Book an appointment

Find out how to request an appointment below.

How to book an appointment

Please use our online triage system, Klinik, to request an appointment. You will be asked to fill out a form regarding your symptoms and to provide any information about your enquiry. Our online form is available Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm

We will always get back to you on the same day in which you submitted the form, so please make sure you expect a same day reply and have your mobile or telephone near.

Alternatively, if you require assistance or you do not have access to the internet, then a member of staff will be able to help you fill out the form either over the phone or in the surgery.

Please note- when filling out a Klinik form, please do not use your NHS login. It will not work and your form will not be sent to us. Klinik are currently undergoing testing to integrate the system onto the NHS app platform however, it is not yet working.

If you need to book a nurses appointment, then you can telephone the surgery as normal to book an appointment.

Improved access evenings and weekends

The practice now offers appointments with GPs, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants at evenings and the weekends. These appointments may not be with our usual clinicians that work at our surgeries but that either work at a surgery within the locality or remotely at another surgery within the country. These appointments are held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings from 6pm-8:30pm, and all day on Saturdays. Please ask our Medical Administrators if you would like to be booked in for one of these appointments. These are routine, pre-bookable appointments. You will need to contact your surgery in the usual way to book- via Klinik.

Appointments at Kingskerswell & Ipplepen Health Centre

General Practitioner- If you feel it is important to see a particular GP, we will do our best to accommodate your request, dependant on the doctor’s availability. If your preferred doctor is not available and your enquiry cannot wait, we will encourage you to speak to another one of our doctors.

Nurse Practitioner– The advanced training that is required for the nurse practitioner role enables them to be able to examine, diagnose, treat and prescribe for many common conditions for which people would have had to see a GP in the past. Some examples of the conditions that a nurse practitioner can diagnose and treat include:

  • Ear, nose and throat problems
  • Eye infections
  • Respiratory problems
  • Skin conditions
  • Urinary symptoms
  • Digestive problems
  • Women’s healthcare
  • Muscular skeletal problems
  • Contraception
  • Pre-conception counselling
  • Bleeding in early pregnancy

If you wish to speak to a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner, we can offer you a telephone appointment where the practitioner will call you at or around an agreed time. Please be prepared to let the receptionist/appointments staff know a few details, so the doctor or Nurse Practitioner can prepare for the call.

Practice Nurse– Our Practice Nurse Team carry out a wide range of treatment room duties including:

  • Child immunisations
  • Ear syringing
  • Removal of sutures
  • Complex dressings (post operative care)

Sadly, minor injuries assessment and dressing was discontinued by the Devon Primary Care Trust in April 2009, so Practice Nurses can no longer carry out this service. To access this service please go straight to a minor injuries unit (MIU) at either Newton Abbot hospital or Torbay Hospital.

Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist– Supporting the Practice Nurses, we have Healthcare Assistants who are also skilled phlebotomists. They undertake the following procedures:

  • Blood tests
  • INR blood tests
  • Dressings
  • New patient checks
  • ECGs
  • Blood pressure
  • NHS Health Checks
  • Ear Syringing
  • Flu vaccination
  • Removal of sutures

PLEASE NOTE THAT BLOOD TESTS SHOULD BE BOOKED BEFORE 15:30 HRS WITH A PHLEBOTOMIST OR HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT.

Podiatrist– The visiting podiatrist and footcare assistant treats patients who are referred via a doctor or other health care professional. Patients registered at Kingskerswell and Ipplepen need to telephone the podiatry centralised appointments booking office at Castle Circus Health Centre on 01803 217712 for any queries or to book an appointment at either Kingskerswell or Ipplepen Health Centre.

Community Nursing Team – Our patients are served by the Newton Abbot Locality Community Nursing team who work for the Torbay & Southern Devon Healthcare Trust. The team have specialist skills in the delivery of general nursing and healthcare to patients who are housebound. Some of these patients are terminally ill and the team have access to the Palliative Nursing Service who specialise in end of life care. By the very nature of their job the nurses are mobile in the community and if you need to speak or get a message to them please call 01626 358666
