Health Centre Equipment – our local charitable fund

The Health Centres have a long established equipment fund bank account at Barclays. This account receives kind donations and bequests from patients and their families. This fund is used exclusively to buy materials and equipment which can be used by the doctors, nurses and healthcare team directly for the benefit of local patients at Ipplepen or at Kingskerswell.

Some of the items recently purchased from this fund include

  • A special phlebotomy chair – unfortunately patients do occasionally faint and this chair is specially designed to tip them back safely if this happens
  • Emergency kit and resuscitation bags (2) funded by Sharing Care Kingskerswell
  • Pulse oximeter – clips on the finger and measures oxygen in the blood – funded by Sharing Care Kingskerswell
  • Dossette (pill holders) to help patients better manage their medications – funded by Sharing Care Ipplepen
  • Blood pressure monitors (2) – essential kit for any doctor or nurse

If you wish to make a donation or have ideas to raise money for this fund, please speak to any of the Doctors, Nurses or the General Practice Manager.

The things we would like to buy include

  • BP monitors for patients to use (self testing) in the waiting rooms
  • Scales and height measures for the waiting rooms
  • A second “Coaguchek” INR blood testing machine for Ipplepen
  • New ECG heart monitors for both Health Centres
  • New Defibrillators for both Health Centres
